The world was hit by Covid-19 and all plans for Speech Karaoke were cancelled for the summer and the yet unknown future. People isolated into their homes and started washing their hands with soaps and disinfectants. The increasing demand for virtual events got to us too! And so we did an online event pilot from our own isolated spaces in Helsinki, Finland using Zoom. The event consisted some speeches related to the crisis, such as Donald Trump´s speech about injecting disinfectants, but we tried our best to kept the mood light, fun and easy-going because of the never-ending Corona newsfeeds and internet posting. The Speech Karaoke Online also had international guests from Sweden, Germany and United Kingdom. The Finnish people are naturally very good at social distancing so we managed to keep the first wave as society somewhat in control. Happy times!
